SELLING EXCELLENCE
NLP is sometimes referred to as "the study and
application of excellence." The world in which we live is changing
rapidly and the way professionals deliver products and services has
changed dramatically. There is still a public perception of a
stereotypical sales person who is trying to get them to buy something
they don't want. Nothing could be farther from the truth with
regard to modern selling. The sales person of today is a
practitioner of the art and science of human persuasion.
People today, especially business people, are
bombarded with an amazing amount of information every day.
Successful people are those people who are finding ways to deal with
overwhelm. The job of today's selling professional is to reduce
the number of choices and take the stress out of the decision making
process for his or her clients. To do that, the Selling Excellence
professional is more interested in listening than telling about her
product or service.
In fact, the old models of selling focused on
elaborate selling systems and how to answer objections. The
Selling Excellence professional is an individual who has learned to pay
attention to subtle behavioral cues and to listen in a way that elicits
criteria of the customer instead of running the agenda of the
salesperson. The NLP sales profession is in a process of helping a
customer identify what she really wants and then satisfying the specific
criteria that make the selling process just right for the customer.
