Huna is the ancient spiritual system of the Hawaiian people. Ho'OPonopono is a Huna ceremony that is still practiced today. NLP Trainer, Tad James lived in Hawaii and was exposed to the ceremony. Tad is credited with proceduralizing basic aspects of the ceremony into an NLP change pattern. After being exposed to Tad's version of Ho'OPonopon, I have been doing the process for cutting the cords from unhealthy past relationships for a number of years with my coaching clients.
Recently, internet marketing guru, Joe Vitale, in his book Zero Limits, popularized the accomplishments of Hawaiian Psychologist Su Len. Labeled 'The World's Most Unusual Therapist,'Dr. Ihaleakala Su Len reports learning a version of Ho'OPonopono from a Huna woman that has been popularly touted as a 'forgiveness' process among other benefits.
Dr. Ihaleakala's story is that he healed inmates of a hospital for criminals by doing his version of Ho'OPonopono by focusing on their patient files and 'clearing' on them without ever having direct counseling sessions with them. Before the institution closed, the prison went from a highly dangerous facilitity for inmates and staff into a peaceful place where inmates were given liberties and safely taken out of shackles. Ho'OPonopono is also said to be a powerful process for achieving wealth, health and acheivement of goals.
